His Image Ministries

“…To be conformed to the image of His Son…”

About the Hendrys

Jim and Shelley Hendry are the home-schooling parents of a fifteen-year-old son (Joel), fourteen-year-old triplets (Grace, Jonathan, and Rebekah), a eight-year-old boy (Nathaniel), and a six-year-old boy (Micah). See our family picture album.

Jim taught at Roxboro (NC) Christian Academy for twelve years. He completed his Master’s degree in secondary education from Pensacola Christian College, his Specialist in Education degree in Biblical counseling from Bob Jones University, and has done additional work in curriculum and instruction at BJU. He has taught Bible, English, history, and science at the secondary and upper-elementary levels. He has served on the board of Home Educators Association of Virginia and acted as the editor of HEAV's magazine The Virginia Home Educator.

Mr. Hendry currently serves as an adjunct faculty member at the National College of Business and Technology where he has taught Oral Communications, Economics, American Government, Modern American History, and Geography. He is currently developing an inspirational leadership lecture and dramatic presentation series on the lives of great men of history, focusing on men of business, public service and church history. He hopes to begin this tour in January of 2006 for businesses, homeschool conferences and support meetings, historical societies and events, and churches to inspire men of all ages to follow the Lord. With this ministry, he hopes to help generate funds to support his ongoing vision to make frequent trips into China to assist China’s pastors and lay leaders. In addition, the Hendrys are now preparing to open a traveling production on the marriages of inspiring Christians of history. The premier production will be “Joy Unspeakable and Full of Glory: The Christ-Honoring Marriage of General Thomas ‘Stonewall’ and Anna Jackson.”

As a full-time wife, mother of six children, and home educator of 16 years, Shelley Hendry desires to inspire and encourage others, helping them to love the Lord and love others, touching their lives for eternity. She and her children enjoy coordinating Mr. Hendry’s living history tours and serving in their local church. In addition, she supports the triplet’s gospel chalk-talk ministry. As time permits, she enjoys speaking, writing, sharing resources, and performing first-person monologues of Christians of history. Shelley’s main desire is that her life will serve as a call to worship and draw others to a closer walk with God by providing times of encouragement, inspiration, and affirmation. Shelley lives and works in the shadow of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, a reminder of “from whence cometh our help.”
